Special thank you to our judge M. Shawn Cornell. Thank you to the sponsors of this year's Purchase Awards, Brix Urban Winery and Market,
Kari Davidson, Janice Nabors Raiteri and Carl Kinsky & Susie Johnson.  The Sainte Genevieve Plein Air Painting Event is an annual event sponsored by the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild, with financial assistance from the Ste. Genevieve County Community Foundation, the Dorothy "Dot" Uding Memorial Fund, and generous private donors.  A special thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible and for the many art patrons who came.  And to the artists who created such beautiful paintings.

Contemporary painters will find the same French colonial buildings, Victorian commercial structures, and extensive gardens in the downtown historic district that intrigued the artists who founded the Sainte Genevieve Art Colony some 80 years ago.  The ragged Mississippi shoreline, midwestern farms, and remnants of old building sites still appeal.  Seven picturesque wineries, Hawn State Park, Pickle Springs Nature Preserve, and other conservation areas are easily accessible by car.

2022 Guidelines:

Registration open from 8am to 4pm, Sept. 21, 22, 23 and 8 to 11am Sept 24, 2022 at the Art Center.  Registration Fee for Entire Event $40 ($30 for active Sainte Genevieve Art Guild Members in good standing at the beginning of the event.)  Obtain a registration stamp on back of canvas or paper prior to beginning artwork.  Canvas sizes are at the discretion of the artist.

Purchase Awards are sponsored by individuals or organizations wishing to have a particular location portrayed.  Photo and map of locations are provided at registration.  The first Purchase Award is to be turned in by 3pm Thursday for judging; the second by 3pm Friday, and the third Purchase Award is a timed event on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11am to 4pm.   Winners will receive a check for $250 on Saturday evening, and the winning painting becomes the property of the judge at the conclusion of the event.

General Award entries must be turned in by 12Noon Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Art Center for judging.  Due to funding restrictions, all paintings must occur in Ste. Genevieve County.
