JANE NAEGER

A native of Ste. Genevieve, Jane grew up on a family farm, and began to draw at a very early age.  Her interest led her to study art in college and take graduate courses from various instructors.  Jane taught both before and after raising three children, and admits, "I love teaching and still do.  My motto which I coined at the beginning of my teaching career is 'Let me teach you to see what you are looking at."

In 1983, with friends Bette Geraghty and Margaret Forhan, Jane founded the Ste. Genevieve Art Guild, having drawn inspiration from one of her instructors and mentors at Southeast Missouri State University, artist Dr. Grant Lund.

After retirement, Jane began pursuing oil painting in greater depth, finding the challenges "phenomenal".  She relates, " I am especially interested in the infinite possibilities of
intense, bright colors being juxtaposed against each other, under each other and over each
other. The effects are often very exciting to me. Subject matter does not dictate my style,
presently, as much as what color can teach me."
