HISTORY
The Sainte Genevieve Art Guild was founded in the spring of 1983 by local artists Jane Naeger, Bette Geraghty and Margaret Forhan. At that time Jane Naeger was a master's student at Southeast Missouri State University, studying with emeritus professor Dr. Grant Lund. Dr. Lund strongly encouraged and facilitated the creation of an art guild in Ste. Genevieve and provided the format for the by-laws and organization based on Cape Girardeaus' already thriving arts organization.
In 2002 the Sainte Genevieve Art Guild obtained non-profit status with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3, enabling it to apply for grants and accept tax-deductible donations.
The Sainte Genevieve Art Guild is one of the many organizations under the umbrella of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.
