JANET KRAUS

Janet's preferred medium is watercolor, "I love the way it gives me surprises every time".  When she began painting, her first choice was oil.  But soon she developed an interest in “plein air” painting, which is the production of art on site, capturing the way natural light affects the atmosphere. Janet switched to watercolors for convenience and has never looked back. "I love the way light describes my subject and gives it life and energy", she says. Janet admits that painting on site is a big challenge, but cannot achieve the same results by other methods.
 
Janet lives in Jefferson County and is also a member of the St. Louis Watercolor Society and the Missouri Watercolor Society.
